Various investigations have disclosed that there may be errors in the credit bureau reports of a large number of individuals. In response to this, one of the national credit reporting agencies, TRW, has formed an independent company from its information services business known as "Experian" and has instituted a program allowing consumers to obtain free annual copies of the credit information which they keep on file. If you request a copy within 60 days after being denied credit, insurance, or employment based on information in your records, you may also obtain a copy for free. Following this article is a form containing the information required by Experian to obtain this report through the mail. You can also obtain the report on line.  Experian may be contacted at 888-397-3742 or at www.experian.com. If you have moved within the last six months, you must enclose a copy of two proofs of your address.  The proof can be a copy of your driver's license, utility bill, or bank statement, showing your name and new address. All of the information provided here is subject to being changed by Experian as time passes and without notice. It takes approximately 10 - 15 working days for the report to be sent to you after the request is received.

     If you are interested in checking the status of your Experian credit records associated with your file you may fill out the following form and mail it to Experian along with the proof of identity.  Experian will not send the report to anyone except the individual named in the report.  Once you have the report, if you have any questions, please feel free to call for an appointment to review the report.  There will be no charge to have us read the report.  If there are any errors that you wish to have corrected, we would be glad to assist you in clearing up the errors at our current hourly rate.
